University of Southern Indiana
Academic Excellence at an Affordable Cost
Founded in 1965, the University of Southern Indiana is a comprehensive public university offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university offers degrees in more than 70 major fields within its divisions of Business, Education and Human Services, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Professions, and Science and Engineering. USI strives to maintain a low student-faculty ratio to enhance learning; the average class size is 25 students. The academic calendar consists of two 15-week semesters and three summer terms. A full-time ESL program is also available throughout the year.
Approximately 2,500 students live in campus apartments or suite-style residence halls that feature laundry facilities, computer labs, and wireless internet access. Apartments consist of two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a living room, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. The suite-style halls combine the benefits of a traditional residence hall with the popular apartment-style housing at USI. Housing is available during the academic year and summer terms.
The University has more than eighty clubs and organizations, which sponsor major campus events, films, lecture series, and other entertainment throughout the year. Numerous athletic and health-related activities are offered through the intramural program and the Recreational Fitness Center.
The Office of International Programs and Services provides a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the unique needs of international students. Ongoing programs include the Host Family Program, Conversation Partners, and the International Outreach Program and numerous cultural and educational activities throughout the year.
